Have you had your trip to the Boleyn yet?

Mine is v Palace. Not sure what to expect. First game 31 years ago ish. Going along on 2nd April more thinking about the win, and the push for 4th rather than realising it'll be the last time I walk down Green Street amongst the crowds and see that turf for the one more time.
And hear Bubbles sung there one last time
I don't cry. Glug.

As I mentioned on the ticket forum thread and the man u replay thread, I just managed to get three returns from the ticket office for the cup replay (CHECK THEM OUT REGULARLY, IF YOU'RE STILL AFTER TICKETS), so it looks as if that will be my last.
There will be no grey area. It's either rock bottom heart break, or cloud 9 ecstacy, when I walk out of there that night.

Took a mate for his last game Saturday and he got quite upset walking out.
We went back and got a picture of him on the side of the pitch. Steward let us do it which was nice.

Did not realise at the time but think I have made my last trip to the boleyn even better spoilt myself by staying at the hotel and a match day corporate package.Even got on to the pitch to kick a ball around so well happy on my last visit.

This season has been in the aeck of my mind for years, living in Oslo and thinking I will HAVE to get to a game or two.
So far, I've managed to get to Wovles and Liverpool in the cup, and Mark Noble's testimonial, which may well end up as my last match in the stadium. I will however at the very least be in a pub near the ground for the man u cup match. Once again booked flights and taking my chances of picking up tickets at some point before kick off.
Noble's match will not be a bad last match, as it was a bit special, but then again, I feel the man u cup match will also be something else.

Olympic stadium has many more options than just the Hammersmith & City line - including Crossrail in a year. But that is only a small point - what I was trying to say was that I expected to feel worse about leaving the ground of so many memories, but actually (despite myself) i'm actually thinking positively about the move and looking forward to it.

My last trip was the Sunderland game. Had deliberately decided on that one because my first time was against Sunderland in 1969. At least we bettered the result of my first game, although it wasn't a thriller was it!
It was a cold day, but walking round the ground before the match (got there nice and early to soak up the atmosphere) still the same thrill and anticipation as when a teenager 47 years ago. Different view point, the first game was stood on the North Bank and last was sat high up in the West Stand. I think the biggest difference was the lack of police compared to '69, when they where everywhere and using their bloody horses to control crowd in Green Street and UP station queue.
Overall I thought I would mind more about leaving the Boleyn, but actually looking forward to moving to Stratford (and better transport back to Paddington!).

I went to the home game Vs West Brom. Whoopee.
Filmed a chorus of bubbles as I was walking down the stairs though.

Well, did my last trip yesterday for the Palace game, no tears, no, but it was a bit weird. Off at Upton Park tube and it reminded me straight away of my first trip to the ground in 1985 (hence the name).
Straight into Ken's Cafe for a greasy breakfast and then down to the stadium. Soaked up the atmos as wandered down and saw those ICONIC plastic towers. The smell of the onions in the air, the expectancy and buzz around the ground on matchday, that is what I'll miss. Not so much the stadium itself, I realised.
Beers in the Castle pre-match.
During the game (in the BMU) I looked down on the old shabby east stand and thought, we've got to move from this place. It's served us well but has reached it's sell-by date.
More beers in the Castle post-match and one more walk down Green Street to see the old Boleyn Ground one more time. Took a couple of photos but, as it was raining, didn't stay too long before walking back to UP tube.
I didn't look back at the ground as I left. Didn't feel too emotional about it to be honest, which surprised me. Maybe it was the beer. Maybe it was feeling robbed by Twattenburg and feeling disappointed with only 1 point. I dunno.
Then on the way home we got off at West Ham and then onto the Jubilee Line to Stratford to see the Olympic Stadium.
Wow, have seen lots of pictures of it but this was the first time I'd seen it for myself. As I came out of the shopping centre and walked into the approach to the stadium it hit me how massive it is - looked like a giant flying saucer in the drizzle. I was speechless! I could imagine thousands upon thousands of Hammers making that walk on the approach to the stadium and knew that it's gonna have it's own new buzz. What an amazing place it looks.
So there, my last trip done. Saw the past and future of West Ham in one day and I ended up feeling more optimistic rather than sad. Irons.

I've already shed a few tears of joy this season as we've battered a load of cunts on the pitch.
I won't be hanging around for whatever nonsense G&S have lined up but I wouldn't be surprised walking out that famous old ground one last time if it's not with a tear in my eye.

As 'roe intimates, many of us have emotional ties to the place, like a house you move from out of that had happy memories. Nothing wrong with showing some emotion towards something that's important to you. Usual soulless keyboard warriors being cunts as per usual.
